Rohingya Refugees Find Refuge at UNITED SIKHS Relief Camps

Over the past year, Rohingya refugees fleeing genocide in Myanmar have faced a severe humanitarian crisis upon arriving in Bangladesh. They escaped with nothing but the clothes on their backs and were met with dire conditions: 75% lacked secure shelter and were living in makeshift camps without access to clean water, sanitation, or security. The future for these refugees remains uncertain as they continue to endure unimaginable violence and hardship.

UNITED SIKHS recognized the urgent need to support the growing refugee population. With 14,500 new arrivals each day, the humanitarian challenge was immense. The goal was to provide immediate relief, including food, shelter, and emotional support to stabilize the refugees and help them survive the harsh conditions.

In collaboration with the UN Shelter Cluster in Cox’s Bazaar, UNITED SIKHS focused on providing emergency aid to 10,000 refugees in Naikhogchari, near the Myanmar border. They delivered three hot meals daily to over 1,000 refugees and supplied emergency relief items to help rebuild the lives of the displaced Rohingya.

UNITED SIKHS successfully brought much-needed support to Rohingya refugees, offering not just food and shelter, but also hope and dignity during an incredibly difficult time. Their actions provided stability to the refugees and reinforced the importance of coordinated humanitarian efforts in addressing one of the world’s fastest-growing humanitarian crises.
