UNITED SIKHS Presents

UNITED SIKHS Disaster Relief Team Calling Volunteers to Help in Puerto Rico

UNITED SIKHS is urgently mobilizing disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico, specifically in the heavily impacted province of Utuado. This area has been devastated by Hurricane Maria, with collapsed infrastructure leading to severe shortages of running water, electricity, and fuel.

UNITED SIKHS had the task of providing immediate aid to the residents of Utuado who have been enduring extreme conditions. This includes delivering emergency supplies, food, and clean water, as well as coordinating with local and military agencies to ensure effective relief efforts.

We have been actively coordinating with local volunteers and the US military to access the untouched areas of Utuado. They established a langar (community kitchen) to provide hot meals of rice, beans, and vegetables to hundreds of residents. Concurrently, efforts are underway to source clean, potable water in collaboration with local police, military, and emergency response teams. UNITED SIKHS is maintaining efficient communication with all relevant agencies and local networks to ensure that aid reaches those in need. Additionally, humanitarian aid shipments, including tents, solar generators, first aid kits, and hygiene kits, are being dispatched based on the latest information about current needs.
