UNITED SIKHS Presents

UNITED SIKHS Providing Flood Relief in North East

In 2022, the floods in North East devastated the entire communities, destroying livelihood and live stocks, especially in Assam. Families were left displaced and struggling for survival as their homes were submerged and basic necceassities like food, clean water, and shelter in scarce supply.

UNITED SIKHS recognized the urgency of the crisis and swiftly mobilized its team of volunteers to provide immediate assistance. The challenge was to reach even the remotest flood-affected areas, deliver essential supplies, and ensure no one was left behind.

Led by Mohinderjit Singh, UNITED SIKHS volunteers traveled over 2,000 kilometers from New Delhi to Assam, bringing critical supplies for nearly 1,500 families. They delivered medicine, sleeping bags, food, and other essentials to those stranded in villages like Chaparmukh and Barkhola. Langar sewa (hot meal distribution) was organized for 71 Sikh families in Chaparmukh and 300 families in Barkhola. In the hardest-hit areas like Village Barkala, where access was particularly difficult, teams braved the challenges to distribute food and other life-saving supplies.

Additionally, UNITED SIKHS set up a health camp at Jagi Road Gurudwara, where doctors conducted health check-ups and distributed medicines to flood victims. Hundreds of families, who had taken refuge in a government school, received essential kits with items like soap, toothpaste, milk, and lentils.
