Dear Supporter,

With your support our brave volunteers from around the United States and Europe are serving the emergency needs of Ukraine refugees 24/7. Sadly the number of refugees now stands at over 3 million and counting.

A group of UNITED SIKHS volunteers traveled into Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine to serve a children’s hospital.

“There was an air bombing raid. We had to hide in a bunker. We stopped by a children’s hospital to deliver toys, medicines and other supplies. We extracted a family with a grandmother, a couple of daughters with two sons and a newborn. We took them to a mobile medical tent our teams are in contact with. They do not have any paperwork but are in safe hands now away from war.” – Volunteer from California

Two volunteers from Ireland have joined our team. Fergo and his friend in true Irish spirit left their job to serve at our Medyka base camp. They are building a staircase from the food truck to the kitchen.

UNITED SIKHS teams are working in partnership with IOM (United Nations agency) and have put in measures to prevent trafficking of refugees especially with large numbers of women and children crossing the borders.

“We made a big white tent and it can house 24,000 people throughout the day – it is warm with mattresses, food and snacks. It is really important for us because in the war there are people taking advantage of the situation. UNITED SIKHS are in constant contact with Polish authorities and the United Nations. We really want to make sure women and children are safe. The Polish police have been really supportive, they have been very aware, and we are in touch with the United Nations.” – Volunteer from Chicago

“It brings tears to our eyes seeing a mother with two young kids getting to the border after walking for nearly a day. Inspired by the life of Guru Nanak Sahib we have set up camps serving hot meals. The temperatures have been frigid and we have set up heated tents to make sure women and children can spend a few hours to warm themselves. We are able to rotate upwards of 24,000 refugees per day in these tents.” – Volunteer from Washington state

“We had a call with the United Nations, Counsel General of Ukraine and some US Congress Representatives about creating a humanitarian corridor for volunteers. They were very impressed with the efforts our teams have made on the ground to set up the logistics for serving myriad needs of refugees. I am humbled by the energy and commitment of our volunteers from North America and Europe who have left their work and family back home to serve humanity.” –  Executive Director of UNITED SIKHS on the ground at the Medyka base camp.
