UNITED SIKHS Humanitarian Aid Efforts Appreciated at Ukraine Fundraiser

At the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ, ‘Friends of Ukraine’ hosted a fundraising event to support humanitarian aid efforts in Ukraine. The event brought together various organizations and individuals, including UNITED SIKHS, Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), and World Central Kitchen, to recognize their vital contributions during the ongoing conflict.

UNITED SIKHS was prompt in delivering essential humanitarian aid in Ukraine amidst the devastation caused by the Russian invasion. Their mission was to provide critical supplies such as food, medications, and sanitation packages to vulnerable populations, while facing immense challenges, including dangerous conditions and risks to their volunteers.

UNITED SIKHS, led by their Humanitarian Aid Director, Gurvinder Singh, took bold action by deploying volunteers into high-risk areas like Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Shehyni. Despite the hazards, including one volunteer being kidnapped and another narrowly escaping death, they remained steadfast in delivering aid where it was needed most. Their efforts were highlighted during the event, with Gurvinder Singh emphasizing the urgent need for ongoing support as missiles and projectiles continue to rain down on innocent civilians.

The efforts of UNITED SIKHS garnered widespread recognition and admiration during the event. Dignitaries like Senator Cory Booker, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and Victor Herlinsky praised their selflessness and determination. The spirit of solidarity was palpable, with UNITED SIKHS emerging as a beacon of hope, providing lifesaving aid to the Ukrainian people. The event raised awareness and funds, ensuring continued support for their critical work in Ukraine, while Gurvinder Singh’s message resonated: “Evil triumphs when good men and good women do nothing.”

UNITED SIKHS’ unwavering commitment to serving in the most dangerous conditions demonstrated that “not all heroes wear capes.” Their heroic efforts in Ukraine inspired many, including one of the event’s key organizers, to join the humanitarian cause.
