In response to the severe damage caused by Hurricane Helene, UNITED SIKHS has commenced a critical humanitarian aid mission in Asheville, North Carolina.

Despite the widespread devastation, the area remains largely underserved, leaving hundreds of victims in dire need of assistance. UNITED SIKHS is reaching out to victim-families and hundreds of individuals, providing essential supplies including water, food and basic necessities.

The relief mission commenced today with an Ardaas (prayer) to Sri Guru Granth Sahib, reflecting the community’s commitment to serving humanity with compassion and dedication. We are thankful to the sangat of North Carolina who have stepped up to join hands in this time of need. We express our gratitudel to Gurdwara Sahibs in Charlotte, Durham and Spartanburg who have come together to provide assistance to those most impacted.

The magnitude of the damage in Asheville has left many residents without adequate support. Asheville, with a population of 93,000, has suffered unprecedented flooding and landslides.

Across the Southeastern United States, more than 220 people have been killed by Helene, with 30 of those deaths occurring in Buncombe County, which includes Asheville. The full scope of Helene’s devastation is still being assessed, but it is clear that many communities remain isolated and in urgent need of aid.

We ask the public to support our relief efforts by making donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness about the ongoing needs of Hurricane Helene survivors. Every contribution can make a significant difference in helping affected families rebuild their lives.
