UNITED SIKHS Leads 2025 Flood Relief Efforts in Punjab

Ferozepur/Ludhiana, August 19, 2025 — In response to the devastating floods sweeping across Punjab’s border districts, UNITED SIKHS has launched a rapid-response humanitarian relief operation to assist displaced families, safeguard livestock, and provide critical medical support.

Triggered by continuous heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and the controlled release of water from the Pong Dam, Ranjit Sagar Dam, and Harike Pattan Headworks, the floodwaters have inundated over 14,200 acres of agricultural land across Ferozepur, Fazilka, and Kapurthala districts. At least 26 villages in Ferozepur remain submerged, with waterlogged roads and fields cutting off access to essential services.

UNITED SIKHS Volunteers Step Forward

In this dire situation, UNITED SIKHS volunteers have mobilized across the region, working around the clock to:

  • Evacuate residents from submerged homes
  • Relocate families to safer areas
  • Set up relief camps offering medical care, food, and clean water
  • Rescue stranded livestock and distribute emergency fodder

Relief camps have been established in severely affected villages including Dhera Ghara and Nihala, where volunteers Jagmeet Singh and Jagtar Singh Khalsa are leading efforts to deliver medical aid and distribute essential supplies. Their presence on the ground reflects a steadfast commitment to supporting communities in crisis and ensuring that urgent needs are met with compassion and efficiency.

Health and Safety Concerns Mount

With stagnant floodwaters raising fears of waterborne diseases and skin infections, UNITED SIKHS has partnered with local health officials to distribute chlorine tablets and raise awareness about safe water practices. The organization is also addressing the critical shortage of cattle fodder, which has left many farmers unable to feed their livestock due to submerged fields and blocked roads.

For decades, UNITED SIKHS has stood at the forefront of humanitarian service—responding to crises, uplifting marginalized communities, and delivering aid with compassion and dignity. From disaster relief to civil rights advocacy, our mission has always been rooted in seva. Now, building on that legacy, we are soft launching the Mobile Medical Unit Project in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, bringing essential healthcare and spiritual outreach directly to underserved villages.

UNITED SIKHS is on the ground, standing with those affected and delivering the support urgently needed. Your help can bring clean water, medical care, and comfort to those who are still surrounded by floodwaters and uncertainty.  Every contribution, whether it is time, resources or outreach, can help restore dignity and rebuild lives. Stand with us. Stand with Punjab.
