UNITED SIKHS Presents

UNITED SIKHS Providing Extensive Aid in Texas Flash Flood Relief Mission

Project Report | Texas Floods 2025

In early July 2025, unprecedented rainfall triggered severe flash floods across the Texas Hill Country, with Kerr County among the worst affected regions. Entire communities were submerged, and rising waters of the Guadalupe River reached record levels, washing away homes, vehicles, and infrastructure.

The disaster has claimed at least 117 lives in Kerr County and displaced hundreds of families, leaving local shelters overwhelmed and communities in crisis. As recovery efforts continue, the scale of loss underscores the urgent need for coordinated humanitarian aid.

UNITED SIKHS, a UN-affiliated international humanitarian organization rooted in the Sikh principle of seva (selfless service), mobilized its disaster relief team immediately after the floods struck. The mission officially began with an Ardas (Sikh prayer) at the Gurdwara Sikh Center of San Antonio before deploying to flood-affected areas.

Our operations have focused on food relief, medical support, essential supplies, and community coordination, ensuring that help reaches those in immediate need.

Key Relief Activities:
  • Distributed over 5,000 hot meal trays daily from Sikh Center San Antonio Gurdwara Sahib.
  • Delivered non-perishable food, hygiene kits, medical supplies, and baby essentials to affected families.
  • Provided work shoes, socks, energy food, pet supplies, and household necessities.
  • Supported local shelters, veteran camps, churches, Red Cross centers, and police/fire stations.
  • Coordinated closely with Kerr County officials, the Salvation Army, and local faith organizations to ensure efficient aid distribution.

Future Rehabilitation & Rebuilding Plans

As immediate relief transitions into long-term recovery, UNITED SIKHS is focused on:

  • Supporting housing rehabilitation for displaced families.
  • Providing mental health and counseling support for survivors coping with trauma.
  • Restoring livelihoods through community rebuilding initiatives.

Collaborating with local authorities and faith-based organizations for infrastructure recovery.

Our teams remain on the ground, continuing the mission with humility and heart, ensuring that every act of seva restores not just homes but hope.

The Texas Flood Relief Mission stands as a powerful reflection of what seva truly means: service guided by compassion, unity, and faith in humanity. In the face of destruction and loss, UNITED SIKHS and the wider Sikh community came together to provide not only aid but reassurance, restoring dignity and hope where it was most needed.

From serving thousands of hot meals to delivering medical and hygiene kits, every effort was rooted in empathy and purpose. Our collaboration with local churches, emergency responders, and community partners proved that recovery is possible when compassion leads the way.

While the floodwaters have receded, the path to rebuilding lives has just begun. UNITED SIKHS remains committed to standing alongside the people of Texas, helping families find stability, rebuilding homes, and ensuring no one is left behind. This mission reaffirms a timeless truth: when humanity unites in service, even the deepest wounds can begin to heal.
