UNITED SIKHS Presents

UNITED SIKHS Relief Aid After Earthquake in Turkey

On February 6, 2023, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Southern Turkey, causing massive destruction across multiple provinces. A second earthquake followed hours later, resulting in significant loss of life and further damage. With over 59,000 deaths and damages exceeding $34.2 billion, it became one of the deadliest earthquakes in centuries. Millions were left homeless, facing severe shortages of food, water, and shelter, and the threat of epidemics loomed.

In the wake of this disaster, UNITED SIKHS was committed to providing immediate humanitarian aid and relief. Our goal was to assist those affected by delivering essentials such as food, water, clothing, medicines, and shelter while ensuring the safety and well-being of the most vulnerable, including the elderly and children.

Our dedicated volunteers quickly mobilized, with teams flying in from Germany and Denmark to reach the province of Adıyaman within three days. Additional teams from the U.S. and U.K. provided assistance in Adana and Hatay provinces. In the midst of the devastation, we distributed portable cylinders due to gas pipeline damage, set up temporary shelters, and offered cash assistance to the elderly and indigent. Despite the challenging conditions, our volunteers worked tirelessly, braving long journeys, treacherous roads, and overwhelming crowds to deliver aid. Local Turkish children also joined our efforts, helping serve meals and distribute supplies.

Thanks to the unwavering support of our donors and the incredible dedication of our volunteers, we were able to provide life-saving assistance to thousands of victims. Our aid efforts continued for months, bringing hope and relief to those affected by one of the worst natural disasters in recent history. Your generosity enabled us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
