UNITED SIKHS Scales Up Relief Operations in Panjab, Urgent Call for Support in the Face of Widespread Flooding
Panjab, India | August 28, 2025
As devastating monsoon floods continue to displace hundreds of thousands across Panjab, UNITED SIKHS has scaled up its emergency response, deploying its Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) as part of its ongoing ambulance seva—a sacred commitment to frontline care and selfless service.
The flooding began in mid-August following incessant torrential rains across northern India, compounded by excess water releases from upstream dams on the Sutlej, Ravi, and Beas rivers. These rivers, which were already swollen from monsoon runoff, surged past safe discharge limits, triggering widespread inundation across 769 villages.

With over 601,000 people affected, UNITED SIKHS is issuing an urgent appeal for essential supplies to sustain relief operations. Immediate needs include:
- Clothes and blankets for displaced families
- Toiletries
- Non-perishable food items and fresh fruits
- Clean drinking water
- Medicines and Medical supplies
- Fodder for animals
- Silage for animals
- Mosquito nets

The Mobile Medical Units, a flagship initiative of UNITED SIKHS, are staffed by volunteer doctors and paramedics who travel into flood-ravaged areas to treat injuries, prevent disease outbreaks, and offer spiritual comfort. These mobile units have reached hundreds of patients in several villages where floodwaters have engulfed, prompting urgent evacuations and interfaith solidarity.
“Our ambulance seva is rooted in the Sikh principle of Sarbat da Bhala – welfare of all,” said Angad Pal Singh, MMU Project Director at UNITED SIKHS. “We are here not only to heal bodies, but to uplift spirits. But we cannot do it alone. We need your support.”

Langar kitchens continue to serve thousands daily, while UNITED SIKHS volunteers navigate waist-deep waters to deliver food, tarpaulin sheets, and hygiene kits.
