UNITED SIKHS expresses its appreciation for the decisive action taken by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in charging a Texas man with a federal hate crime for making threats against employees of a Sikh organization. This charge underscores the importance of addressing hate crimes with the seriousness they deserve and sends a clear message that such acts of hate and intimidation will not be tolerated.

The individual in question was charged with violating the civil rights of employees through threats that aimed to intimidate and instill fear within the Sikh community. This development is a significant step toward ensuring justice for the victims and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.

“We commend the DOJ for its unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and safety of all individuals, regardless of their race, religion, or background,” said Gurpreet Singh, CEO of UNITED SIKHS. “Hate crimes against the Sikh community have been on the rise, and this charge reaffirms our collective resolve to combat hatred and discrimination in all its forms.”

“We urge all members of society to stand with us in rejecting hate and bigotry. Together, we can create a more decent and respectful universe where every individual can live without fear of persecution for their identity,” he added.
